Privacy Awareness Week 2013

April 29, 2013

April 28 – May 4, 2013 is Privacy Awareness Week – an annual event coordinated internationally by the Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities (APPA) to promote greater privacy awareness and the importance of protecting personal information.

“Privacy Awareness Week is an opportunity to remind citizens, public bodies, health custodians and private sector organizations of the value of privacy and of the important role each plays in protecting personal information,” says Alberta Information and Privacy Commissioner Jill Clayton. “My Office has a number of resources available to help citizens and stakeholders take action to protect personal information.”

Available resources include

  • Netcare: Know Your Rights
  • Seizing Opportunity: Good Privacy Practices for Developing Mobile Apps
  • Getting Accountability Right with a Privacy Management Program
  • Causes of Breaches and Breach Prevention Recommendations

For Privacy Awareness Week 2013, APPA has produced an infographic that highlights the impact of technology on personal privacy and illustrates how citizens and regulators across the Asia Pacific Region are protecting personal information.
