The Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner (OIPC) of Alberta continues to monitor the ongoing labour dispute at Canada Post.
At the time of the strike notice issued in May, the OIPC ceased sending any items via Canada Post and began using alternate means to share information or documentation. We advised stakeholders to consider doing this as well.
With the recent launch of a national strike, we are reiterating this message. The OIPC is continuing to find other ways to send and receive items and we encourage the public and entities to do the same until Canada Post service resumes.
If you are expecting items from the OIPC, please watch for them via secure encrypted email or file transfer, or courier. There will be no interruption in Government of Alberta (GoA) internal courier mail, so if you are within the GoA, items from the OIPC could also arrive that way.
If you need to provide the OIPC with information or documentation, we suggest you consider using alternate means such as couriers, secure email or in-person delivery until business resumes as usual at Canada Post. Please note that if you wish to make an in-person delivery to our Calgary office, we require you to make arrangements for this by calling ahead to 403-297-2728 or tollfree 1-888-878-4044.
Thank you.
