In this time of pandemic that requires social distancing, the Commissioner’s office has received questions about what to do about affidavits, which require commissioning of the deponent’s signature, but the deponent cannot physically appear before a commissioner for oaths.
The Commissioner’s office has decided that it will accept an affidavit that has been commissioned according to recent instructions issued by the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta for remote commissioning of affidavits. Those instructions can be accessed here.
