Information and Privacy Commissioner, Frank Work, welcomes the decision by the Government of Alberta to place manifests of government aircraft flights on the internet for public scrutiny.
Work says this is an important move by the government. “This is a demonstration of a commitment by the government to become more open and transparent in the way it does business. It sends a message to Albertans and will bring accountability to those using government aircraft”.
Work says he hopes this is a sign of things to come. “The Premier has made transparency a cornerstone of his mandate, and I welcome any decision the government makes to ensure greater access to information”.
Manifests of government aircraft flights will be posted on a monthly basis on the Service Alberta website at www.servicealberta.gov.ab.ca.
